Events.com Style and Interaction Guide
The problem:
Events.com needed a style guide establish brand identity. It would be the main source of truth for creating consistent, on-brand content.
Users and Audience:
The users were the product, design, marketing, and engineering team of Events.com. The guide would also be used as an onboarding tool for new employees who would need to understand our brand before working on the product.
Team and Role:
Since the product had not yet launched and had very few design guides in place, it was my job to create one from scratch. I would be creating the visual guide as well as the interactive guide. Since the product was rapidly growing, I would also be in charge of keeping it up to date, and adding to it when needed.
Design Process:
I met with the product and design team to discuss styles that had already been put into place. These were things like fonts, some colors, and grids. After that I researched other successful branding guides to see how other templates had been being laid out. I used tools like Google’s material design standards and font awesome to build out a comprehensive guide. I used Axure to create the guide so that it was easily accessible through a URL, and multiple team members could view and edit it.
Outcome:
I created a 30 page visual style guide that incorporated all of Events.com’s branding standards and design rules. Later I implemented an interaction guide as well. The style guide is now used by all departments and constantly being referred back to for new projects.
